Ehy guys,

it's 4 or 5 weeks I noticed this but I always forgot to mention it on the forum. Don't you think the podcast has recently lost alot of quality due to over compression? While I listen to it in my iPhone I have to keep it louder and yet it looks coming out of a metal speaker. I assume the comp ratio has been increased but this is making me really lose some of the beautiul dynamics of tracks percussion and low end frequencies. Is there any way to fix this? I mean...tatw is compressed too...it has to be like any other radio show, but if it's too much it becomes annoying...anybody else noticed this?

I'll get the final compression looked at - maybe it can be reduced a bit, but it has to be pretty tight as the show hits a lot of FM stations. The compression is similar to that used on BBC Radio 1 for the Essential Mix.

The podcast is also at 128k, this is an acceptable bitrate for podcasts - anything higher than this is unfair on the labels who submit music to the radio show. It was previously 96k! But the MP3 format doesn't help matters.

Remember that if you want to hear the music properly in all its wav glory, you need to buy it.

One thing I am missing lately is the tracklist/bookmarks added to the podcast.
Can this be added again?

By bookmarks, do you mean the chapter markers? If so, then no. I've asked Gareth Emery about it in the past and he said that a law tied to podcasting in the UK doesn't allow for chapter markers. I imagine its linked to the whole "radio show" mentality of podcasts.

Now if you mean adding the tracklist to the description (when you click the little i in iTunes for example), I can't see why they couldn't do that.

The tracklists are included in the 'lyrics' section of the iTunes content, there's no other way to add the tracklist.

Cue sheets are still made every week over at CueNation, Dennis.

...they're just not made by me anymore. Some other person with waaay too much time on his hands has taken on the job instead. biggrin.gif

The best part is you can view the entire TL on your iTouch(or any mp3 player that can display lyrics) while you listen to the podcast. Its pretty cool smile.gif

And thanks to Solaris International, I started adding TLs to all other podcast like TATW, and to all the random sets I download smile.gif
