Hey all
I make some crappy music myself and I decided to make some topics

First .. Sample CD's . with awesome loops and beats and such... Which you really have to get to make some nice rolling / banging / Bang Tunes. I've found so far that überschall has some damn high quality sample cd's out there and i actually got a few of them <3. Shame that the new ones are with some odd VST synth on them.. makes it bit harder to use em (.

What Sample cd's you would recommend to get?.

these cds really got me started. still require a lot of tweaking usually, I only use them primarily for the kicks anymore these days.

if you can pick this up, you'll be set for a long while imo. you can load all sorts of preset loops, but the nice thing is they're easy to tear apart and rebuild to create something more original.

I've never used sample CDs before. In fact I've never really produced a track before... so I don't know how much my opinion is worth! But I'm gonna give it anyway...

Vengeance are the ones I've heard the most about while lurking around on the Internet. So it might be a pretty good place to start.

hmm interesting.. those Vengance sound samples are 16bit 44.1kHz.. o.O should be at least 48kHz and 32bit for cd pressing.. I wonder why they are on so crappy quality?

uh, as far as I know the standard sampling rate for CD's is 44.1kHz/16bit.

I heard some of those samples before (also in a lot of released track, the loops sound to obvious) and there is nothing wrong with the soundquality.
There is an deadmau5 samplingcd recently released, very interested in that one.

hmm at school in "music production" lessons the dudes always said that always use high quality samples (48/32bit).

Might take a peak to that Deadmau5 sample cd when it arrives.. Should get BT's sample CD as well.. Hehe.. making music really isnt cheap!, VSTi + VSTe + Logic/Cubase/FL Studio + Mastering softs and and voilá; bank account empty..

offcourse you can use HQ samples but after rendering to 48kHz and 32 bits try to burn it on a audio cd

just bought a new audio interface and finally bought the reason 4 upgrade... bankaccount not empty but it aint cheap lol

Thanks for the replies . I have to now take my m-audio audiophile from my old PC and transfer it to the new computer.. my new trax doesnt seem to work on old weak integrated cards Asio ftw..

Thinking of biting the bullet for a Vengeance sample CD, since I got a bit of a present for getting my degree...I was thinking Essential Clubsounds 3, unless you guys have another suggestion.

Vengeance Essential Clubsounds 3, and Vengeance Essential Clubsounds 2 are an excellent choice in my opinion.

same here, but while talking about this:

I read somewhere that most of these samples were ripped from records.
They also stated it's not wise to use already mastered kicks in your production. Someone agrees with this?
And what would be the reason?

My educated-but-amateur guess would be that you can't really fully un-master them and then fine-tune them...Or, it may be that having already dropped down from a higher bitrate, some sound artifacts are present, and would gain more artifacts when mixed down and mastered yet again...

I know that überschall sample-cd's were quite used in trance sounds some time ago and they were orignal copies.. not ripped and put on sample cd.. dunno about those vengeance cd's...

Vengeance Minimal House gets a fair amount of use here though, curiously, I don't think I've ever used it in a minimal house track.

over compression will do the trick to make them sound "great".... it seems thats what everyone likes to do these days with dance music...


and maybe some of the sample cds you are talking about having ripped content, is probably with the new VEH3 or some shit like that, its just a bunch of loops. not just 1shot samples

I think Vengeance is releasing a Wind/Ocean Sounds collection....roughly 2gb of various waves and wind tunnels from around the world....(i.e wave crashing on rock of Lake Michigan in December)...should be good:)
